After Pogaru, Pandem Kodi and Bharani, Bhayya is Vishal’s latest flick. He has that ‘Mass’ image, stories with Rayalaseema background, lots of fight sequences in all his movies. First half of the film is neat though some of us might feel that Sekhar Kammula kind of emotional scenes are not there. But in the second half of the film, he added good emotional episodes and made sure that you get connected with the film. The plus points of the film are direction, fresh cast, music, cinematography and editing. On the flip side, the pace of the film slackens at times. Sekhar Kammula who did female oriented films like Anand and Godavari came up with a film of different genre this time. Most people who have ever studied in a co-ed set up will identify with it. Freshers, farewell, parties, fighting and making up are all that happen in Happy Days. Nothing really dramatic happens and no bizarre twist hampers the screenplay. Life just goes on, as it goes on for all students. Regular college life-that’s why it’s called Happy Days. This could pass off as a documented reality show, and no one would tell the difference. That’s a slight exaggeration, but Happy Days is surely a trip down memory lane. Read More…

ANALYSIS:

Sekhar Kammula is one of the few directors in Tollywood who handle movies very sensibly. He makes films that centre around urban middle class. He treads similar path with Happy Days too. This time he focuses on a gang of college youth and their love stories. Hence the subject is very clichÃ©d. Yet, Happy Days scores largely on three points - the fresh casting (you relate to this young talent), music (Mickey J Meyer has given superb songs) and catchy visuals. Sekhar Kammula brings life to the film post the interval by creating a mood. Dialogues - colloquial and casual - are another advantage.

In fact, the script completely hinges on the dialogues and characterizations of the young leads. You can say it is his version of Dil Chahta Hai. The format is same except the situations and characters. You can also see influence of many films on several scenes.

On the flip side, it is very slow paced and nothing newness in the story. First half is weak.

There are too many mistakes and some of the scenes are very artificial. A Proddutur boy speaking Telangana dialect, Lagaan type cricket match, Srikakulam born boy finally giving speech in English, giving conclusion as a message oriented film - are some of the jarring points in other wise neatly made movie. Don’t miss the film for the amount of nostalgia it has. One can go back to his lovely college days. And for students it’s a lively celluloid story where they can see themselves on screen. All the feelings from college humor to romance to sentiment…everything can be seen in the flow of 2 and half pleasant hours. The film proved to be an entertainer by the stuff in it. But if you expect some non stop humor and rib tickling scenes, that’s not there. It’s a neat film made in Kammula’s style. The artistes are new but they have excelled in their roles. The film is worth watch by all sets of audience.

Fist half of the film goes with introduction of characters. Second half appears to be little dragged but that’s what happens when four love stories are to be concluded. The scenes sometimes are routine in second half and seldom has the tempo graph suffered ups and downs. Read More…

The first half of the film is alright. The second half slows down a bit. The plus points of the film are Ram Charan Teja, songs and fights. On the flip side a better heroine and a better second half would have done wonders to the film. This film proves that Ram Charan Teja possess all qualities to become the next mega star. Ram Charan has rendered excellent performance in the dance and stunts departments. Considering the fact that Chirutha is his debut film and that he is the son of megastar Chiranjeevi, it would be too much to expect much from Ram Charan. He deserves rich appreciation for his energetic performance and commitment to reach the expectations of the audience. Definitely, he is successful in his first strike. The audiences are prone to a constant feel that Puri Jagannath has not touched upon the other aspects of histrionics other than action and dance. In several scenes, including climax, the words of the hero are heard as the audience will see either long or rear shots of the hero. Ram Charan’s efforts have borne fruit. The expectations with which he has arrived are unfair, though his opportunities are obviously ample. He has made use of those opportunities-one cannot compare him to Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan or even cousin Allu Arjun. For a debutant, he has done well. His fights are excellent, though his dances are stiff even if he pulls off all the complicated steps. At the outset, the eagerness of the audience is to know about Ram Charan Teja’s performance. Well, there is no Teja in his name. It’s just mentioned ‘Ram Charan’. He did it. Kalyanram is a promising talent, no doubt. With ‘Athanokkade’, he arrived. And after that, the only improvement is in his dancing, but he’s still a little stiff. Good energy, good looks-needs good roles. Saikumar makes a good villain. He dominates in the second half. Vedika is pretty, dances well and does a good job in the little screen time she gets. Every hero’s dream is to get into that lucrative ‘mass hero mould’. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has tried attempt with his latest film Vijaya Dasami, a remake of Tamil hit Shivakasi. It is completely designed to attract B and C Center audiences.

It will test your patience if you are looking for some quality entertainment and logic within the commercial frame. Though it is not aimed at class audiences, it doesn’t make us feel that it is a complete masala film either, heavy action scenes and a dose of mother and sister sentiment not withstanding. The film has turned up dull on a whole. It smells old in story line and also out dated in narration. Except the last few minutes of the film, the entire show tests the patience of audiences. The film starts with havoc created by some villain gang and that’s followed by the routine introduction of hero with fight. First half runs dull with many ups and downs. Interval bang is also not so great and the second half again goes dull with predictable scenes and weak dialogues and screenplay. The last few minutes of screenplay grabs some attention but still even that is routine.

Although, this Perarasu’s story brought success in Tamilnadu, it failed completely to entertain audience here. The treatment by Samudra also didn’t match to the expected tempo and emotional levels.

The songs are weak and all are on beaten track resembling Tamil fast beats. To sum up, the film should struggle a lot with publicity to make it reach people. Positive Word of mouth publicity is doubtful. Read More…

The film is a free remake of Tamil hit film Sivakasi, which starred Vijay. Director Samudra remained faithful to the story of Perarasu, but badly mauled the entertainment factor. The entire first half is a thorough boredom, while the second half goes awry. At the same time, Samudra missed the comedy, despite fielding Brahmanandam from start to finish.
